News Idea 1: How the Administration Makes Snow Day Calls

Living in rural Vermont we get a lot of bad weather that prevents us from being able to drive to school. How does the administration make each call? Whether it be a delay or a full day cancelled, I want to dive into what goes into making this decision.

News Idea 2: New Local Businesses in Town

FatFace, Charlie's Cafe, Next Chapter Cafe, etc.

How are the new local businesses doing?

News Idea 3: Teachers who teach Exercise Classes

Although this topic sounds kind of boring, I think it could be made interesting. This news story relates to me personally because my mom teaches a weight training class at The Manchester Gym. The other teachers we could interview are Julie Fifield (core class), Kelly Travis, Laura Callen (both spin). We could talk about how they balance teaching at school and teaching at the gym/Zen Revolution.

Our News Story

The news story that Sydney, Jess, and I worked on is about snow days at BBA. We interviewed Meg Kenny and Cory Herrington and asked them to walk us through a day in their lives when there are weather warnings. We were interested to know how exactly a snow day or delay is called, because we have had a significant amount of them this year. We didn't set up the shot with Mr. Herrington very well; the photos in the background are tilted. Other than that, I think we did the rule of thirds well for both interview shots.

Our news story didn't go as well as we had planned; we should have gotten more B roll. Basically, we didn't get the type of content we wanted. We were hoping we would have more of an inside scoop, but a lot of what we got out of the interviews was common knowledge. This could have been due to the kind of questions we asked are interviewees, but I think it had a lot to do with the amount of logistics involved.
